Perry Wasn't Who We Thought He Was (And Neither Was Anyone Else)

Alright! So we have our leading lady Dove and our contestants!! River is the clear front runner, let's see if this continues!

THE BACHELORETTE'S LEAD SPOTLIGHT

First, we need to learn a little bit more about our leading lady!! We're going to roll our d20 twice to find out some new information. We'll refer to our Spotlight Prompts and Traits lists to see what information we learn. OMG double 6!! So, we're going to draw one card for "A moment from Dove's childhood!!" and roll a d10 for how flirty she is!

Dove's Childhood Story = Reversed Magician

When interpreting this, I want to keep in mind the Star we pulled as Dove's past in her setup spread. We already established that she comes from clarity, healing, and clean emotional history. So her childhood being Magician reversed isn't signaling hardcore trauma. I feel like her childhood wasn't the most stable, but it was filled with light, love, and possibility.

In practice this looks like: A household that was loving but inconsistent. Adults who cared deeply but weren't always organized, grounded, or reliable. She grew up surrounded by affection, creativity, and encouragement, but not much guidance. She had emotional safety, but not procedural stability.

Due to all of this, Dove learned to improvise because no one handed her a roadmap. She has a flexible, intuitive way of navigating life with a tendency to "figure it out as she goes." Her childhood, while not the most stable, shaped her without wounding her.

Ok and I'm going to play with all the additions because I want to really flesh this season out! We have a major! OMG A REVERSAL TOO! So Ms. Dove will also get a confessional about her childhood story AND some sort of twist (omg I hope it's a new person)!

Dove's Reversal Confessional on her childhood = Temperance

Which is interesting because what she is looking for is REVERSED temperance!!

Overall, I think this makes sense! Dove sees her childhood as something she's integrated, balanced, and made peace with. It's "I can hold the messy and the beautiful at the same time." She doesn't idealize her childhood, but she doesn't resent it either. She understands it was imperfect, but she also recognizes the love that was there.

Cast Reaction to Family! = Queen of Wands

OMG TEMPERANCE IS A MAJOR TOO! Roll d6 for a twist and 3 so a cast reaction!! WAIT I LOVE THIS A CAST REACTION TO HER CHILDHOOD AND FAMILY! (I'm going to include the family call twist below in this as well.) The contestants all find that this makes her more endearing. They think she's emotionally mature and admire her independence. The contestants find her captivating in a way they didn't expect. She walked in as a 5/10 with a 4/10 charm and somehow...she has this energetic presence!!

Oh my gosh this is SO PERFECT! I'm also going to interpret this from the lens that this is episode 1, so this is how this person feels about Dove going onto Major Attraction. So I'm going to use this card to interpret WHO is talking and WHAT their message is in this instance.

OMG PAGE OF WANDS IS SOMEONE THAT IS YOUNG IN SPIRIT ITS DEF ONE OF HER PARENTS (or whoever raised her)!! This person is artistic, quirky, unconventional, and a bit of a free spirit. And I think their message is: Go for it! Try the new thing. Follow the spark. Life is an adventure!

SLIGHT ASIDE – It's so interesting that she's looking for reversed temperance in her partner, which at first we were thinking was someone WILD. But it actually looks like she's looking for more stability!! She wants intentional. Someone who chooses deliberately. Someone with direction.

How Flirty Dove Is = 2

Lol a 2/10. I feel like this makes sense with Dove. She's not charming, she's not flirty, she's just...earnest and a little awkward.

So overall, the Lead Spotlight gave us:

• A childhood that shaped without wounding.
• Temperance as her confessional = she's at peace with her childhood. Which makes her reversed Temperance desire for a partner even more interesting; she doesn't need chaos, she needs someone who brings what she never quite had: grounded direction.
• A free-spirited parental figure cheering her on via Page of Wands!! Which explains A LOT about her, she was raised by someone who improvised through life.
• A cast reaction of Queen of Wands = the contestants find her captivating in a way they didn't expect. She walked in as a 5/10 with a 4/10 charm and yet she has a very energetic presence!!

THE BACHELORS

Alright! Now that we've learned a little bit more about our Lead, let's go on a group date!! We're going to roll a d6 to determine the type of date, pull a card to represent the date itself, and then pull cards to see a moment between Dove and each contestant.

GROUP DATE = Reversed Emperor

So we rolled a 6 for a morals/values test date. The emperor upright represents peak stereotypical masculine energy: stern leader, protector, provider. Lots of patriarchal energy, so reversed Emperor I think we want a date that is subversive of typical patriarchal standards.

This challenge will be answering: How does he behave when he's not the patriarch, not the authority, not the protector, not the rule‑maker; but instead has to engage with children as equals, collaborators, or chaotic agents? In this challenge, Dove wants to see a dismantling of patriarchal "protector/provider/authority" masculinity and replace it with care, collaboration, humility, and emotional presence.

How about Reading to Kids at a Library Story Hour?? Alright, and as for the "skill", we're looking at compassion!

💪🏽 CONTESTANT #1 = Clayton "Buck" (FIRST IMPRESSION = 5)

Reversed 5 of Cups, Compassion = 5

5 compassion so moderate warmth and engagement. Neutral. I want to lean into nostalgia as a keyword for Buck's reversed 5 of cups. idk 5 of cups reversed has kinda a sad undertone to me...bittersweetness, a soft sadness. He participates normally but with a faint emotional undertone. He seems touched in a quiet, understated way.

Quiet bittersweet sadness at story hour. There's something there…something unspoken.

Confessional = Reversed 7 of Cups

This confessional is Buck reflecting on reading to the kids (and maybe explaining the somberness we were sensing.) Reversed 7 of Cups = overwhelmed by emotions. He reflects that the gentleness of the date, the kids, the stories, the quiet…cracked something open. He wasn't prepared for the emotional wave. (Impression +3)

Dove's Confessional = Reversed 9 of Wands

And we have another reversal so we get to see what Dove thinks! Dove is hesitant about the moment. She's overwhelmed by his emotion!? Omg is this a -5?! The man cracked open emotionally and it completely overwhelmed Dove. She couldn't handle it. That's so painfully human — he was finally vulnerable and it was TOO vulnerable TOO soon. (Impression -5)

Alright 9 compassion!! Showed up and showed out! Very emotionally attuned to the kids. And I think the reversed 4 of Cups shows that he was very engaged and enthusiastic (but in an emotionally present way, not an energetic way)! Fully Present and engaged. Attentive, expressive reading, responsive to kids' cues with natural warmth.

Our materialistic king who had a first impression of 1 has just showed up as the most compassionate person there!! The man who Dove clocked immediately as off is now...genuinely good with kids??

This isn't who he usually is! BUT! I also see this as him going all in for romance! This is also super juicy because Temperance reversed is Dove's setup card for what she's looking for in a partner! Like Perry is showing her exactly what she said she wanted, someone who goes all in, and throws balance out the window for romance. He's saying "this isn't me normally but something about this situation is making me go all in." (Impression +3)

Dove is overwhelmed. Hahaha so funny she was overwhelmed by Buck too. (Impression -5)

🌊 CONTESTANT #3 = River (FIRST IMPRESSION = 9)

Death, Compassion = 4

4 compassion, so River was quite reserved. He had limited outward warmth, was guarded, had selective engagement, and was slow to open (if we can even say he did open up). But then we have Death! Is this a literal transformation in Dove's feelings on him?!?! He has such a positive first impression, but it seems like she was not impressed with this? Seems like he stayed closed off and doesn't adapt to the kid‑led environment.

frontrunner, hottest guy, first impression of 9, and he pulled DEATH and barely opened up?? The reversal of expectations is DELICIOUSly unfortunate hah

CONTESTANT #4 = Eelias (FIRST IMPRESSION = 6)

Reversed Hierophant, Compassion = 6

With a 6 compassion Eelias was slightly warm, moderately open, and generally cooperative. His approach with the kids was non-traditional. He reads the book but improvises and encourages the kids to collaborate in the storytelling with a lighthearted energy.

Improvising the story with the kids is SO charming and so on brand for reversed Hierophant!

Confessional = Reversed 10 of Wands

The 10 of Wands upright is burden, exhaustion, carrying too much. Reversed... he's putting it DOWN. He came in emotionally drained from a breakup and this date, being collaborative and playful with the kids LIGHTENED him. He found unexpected relief. A sense of "oh, I can breathe again." That feels really endearing. (Impression +3)

SLIGHT ASIDE Regarding Dove's Confessionals – DOVE IS OVERWHELMED BY EVERYONE 😂😂😂 She came on this show looking for someone to shake up her life and now that things are actually getting emotional and intense she's just...panicking at every turn. She's a 2 flirt score who can't handle feelings. This is SO her character!! She came here for chaos and the chaos is…overwhelming her.

MAJOR TWISTS!

River and Eelias both pulled majors for their group dates so we have to roll for twists! And Perry pulled a major for his confessional!! River's twist is 4, a chaos moment. So we'll roll a d20 and add or subtract from the Impressions! And Eelias' twist is 5 so someone is getting immunity!!! Perry's twist is 4, ANOTHER chaos moment!

For River's chaos moment in order: 2, 17, 20, 7. WOWOWOW RIVER ROLLED A 20 AND IT'S EVEN!! He just lost 20 impression points from his OWN twist!! The chaos moment completely backfired on him!! And Perry gets +17?!?!! The man who started at 1 impression is having an insane redemption arc!! He is NOT his first impression!

And now we pull from the Cast Deck for Eelias's immunity!! Who gets protected??

RIVER GETS IMMUNITY AFTER LOSING 20 POINTS FROM HIS OWN CHAOS MOMENT?! The universe is PROTECTING him!!

OMG PERRY GETS A SOLO THATS CRAZY AFTER THE FIRST IMPRESSION! The man walked out of that limo and Dove immediately clocked him as off, first impression of 1, and now he's earned THE first solo date?!

MINI EVENTS

Perry and Dove's Solo Date

We rolled a 3 so we have ourselves a hot air balloon date, scary yet maybe romantic, which feels VERY on brand for where Perry's arc is going right now. And we roll a d6 for the skill to look at, which is 4, initiative.

4 of Swords, Initiative = 10

INITIATIVE 10 OUT OF 10!! Perry is going ALL IN on this hot air balloon!!

I feel like the 4 of Swords is a relaxed and controlled pause. Initiative 10 so he goes all in, he shows up. He chooses her. He's fully invested, but the way he does it is soft, calm, and peaceful. He's not intense, chaotic, or pushy. He's showing her he's serious, but in a way that feels safe, calm, and emotionally regulated. Meaning, he's not sweeping her into chaos, he's sweeping her into stillness. He took a big romantic swing with his hot air balloon solo date, and the date itself is serene, slow, and emotionally grounding.

Dove came on this show looking for Reversed Temperance. We initially read that as "someone wild." But we reframed it as "someone intentional." Someone who CHOOSES deliberately. And Perry just showed up as EXACTLY that. He's taking initiative to show up fully and then gave her stillness with 4 of Swords. He's not chaos. He's not the patriarch. He's not performing. He's just...present and intentional and calm.

And Dove, who grew up with a loving but ungrounded household, who has a flirt score of 2, who gets overwhelmed by big emotions, might actually be able to BREATHE around this version of Perry. The man who scored a 1 on first impression might be her person. (Impression Modifier = +5)

I think we should try for an early rose! Roll the d20 aaaaaand...11 no effect. So close!! But no rose for Perry tonight. The moment was perfect but Dove isn't quite ready to commit yet. Which honestly feels SO right for her character, she's overwhelmed by everything, a 2 flirt score, just starting to process that maybe she had Perry completely wrong. She's not ready to hand out roses on a hot air balloon just yet.

River and Eelias Group Date

4 escape room! 5 humor! River is closed off, guarded, barely opened up at story hour. Can he find humor in a high pressure situation? Eelias has already showed us he's collaborative and playful with kids. So an escape room feels RIGHT for his energy.

River = 3 of Swords, Humor = 6

Oh no, did he hurt Dove's feelings with a not so great "joke"? The 3 of Swords is heartbreak, pain, cutting words. With humor as the skill... yeah he made a joke that landed WRONG. Like he tried to be funny and it came out sharp or careless. Maybe a self deprecating joke that accidentally targeted Dove? Or a deflection joke when she was trying to connect? His guarded energy from story hour is still here, he's using humor as armor and it CUT instead of charmed. And his humor score of 6 is moderate, like he THINKS he's funnier than he is. Which makes it worse somehow. (Impression -3)

Eelias = 2 of Swords, Humor = 3

Omg what if this is Dove feeling indecisive between Perry and Eelias??? Dove is blindfolded, two swords crossed, unable to choose. She genuinely doesn't know how she feels about Eelias. He's been solid all episode, the collaborative storytelling with the kids was charming, but now in the escape room she's just... uncertain. And his humor score of 3 isn't helping him stand out. (Impression +1)

Buck's Dinner Convo Addition

Now, last and also at the bottom of the scoreboard we have Buck! 6, one wish! 3, sincerity!

Magician!! Sincerity = 2! Iiiiiinteresting...Buck felt a lot earlier, but at dinner he chooses to say something safe, polished, and controlled instead of something vulnerable. He uses dinner to present a cleaner, more composed version of himself. He's trying to reset the vibe without showing vulnerability.

So after the raw emotional exposure at story hour, Buck is trying to rewrite the narrative. He's saying "that wasn't me, THIS is me:" polished, capable, in control. Very Magician energy. But Dove already saw behind the curtain. She saw the real Buck at story hour, the quiet sadness, the unexpected tenderness, and now he's trying to package himself differently. With a sincerity score of 2 she's not buying it. The sadness at the library was too vulnerable and overwhelmed her, but it was AUTHENTIC. And now he's sitting across from her being polished and performed and she knows it. (Impression -3)

And a MAJOR! So we roll a d6 for a twist. Omg another chaos moment lololol.

For Buck's chaos moment in order: 4, 18, 12, 15.

Perry just had the most romantic hot air balloon date and now Buck's dinner performance is tanking him by -18!! And Eelias quietly benefits from Buck's chaos AGAIN — he got +7 from River's chaos moment earlier and now +15 from Buck's!! Eelias is the chaos beneficiary of this entire episode

ELIMINATION

The man who had a quiet, understated emotional response. A bittersweet undertone. A soft sadness that cracked something open in him privately. But then overcorrected when he tried to reset with a polished Magician performance at dinner...Clayton "Buck" is eliminated in Episode 1.

And the drama of this episode: Perry went from first impression of 1 to second place!! (Almost first if it weren't for that last chaos twist!! River would have gone home by a LANDSLIDE without immunity!! Eelias quietly dominated! And Buck…he felt too much, showed too little, then showed too much of the wrong thing.
